Super Eagles captain, Ahmed Musa, has urged President Bola Tinubu to attend their match against Cameroon in the ongoing 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast.
Musa made this statement on behalf of the Super Eagles players on Wednesday at the team’s Zoom meeting with Sen. John Owan Enoh, the Minister of Sports Development.
The Nigeria Minister of Sports, Owan Enoh told the Super Eagles players via Zoom chat that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu said, he wasn’t impressed with the performance of the team in the Group stage.
The Super Eagles cruise into the knockouts with victories over Ivory Coast and Guinea-Bissau despite struggling in front of goals.
The Eagles open their AFCON campaign with a 1-1 draw with group A winners Equatorial Guinea and have scored just three goals in 2023 AFCON.
“We don’t want him to watch the game on TV anymore, we want him over here [Ivory Coast] to come and cheer us together. So this is our message to the President.” Musa Said
The two of the continent’s giants Cameroon and Nigeria will meet in the last-16 of the Africa Cup of Nations on Saturday.
