The Ghana Football Association has sacked coach Chris Hughton after their group-stage exit from the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
The move came after Cameroon defeated Gambia 3-2 to ensure that Ghana could no longer progress to the Africa Cup’s last 16. Cameroon’s win on Tuesday meant Ghana could not finish among the four best third-place teams from the six groups.
The Black Stars finished on two points in Group B, drawing 2-2 with both Egypt and Mozambique following a 2-1 defeat by Cape Verde in their opener
The Ghana Football Executive Council has also decided to dissolve the technical team of the Black Stars.
The 65-year-old former Newcastle United and Brighton & Hove Albion manager took over as Ghana coach in March 2023.
