Coach of the Super Eagles of Nigeria, Jose Peseiro explains the real situation on Sadiq Umar and his inclusion in the Real Sociedad team to play this weekend
The Real Sociedad Star player was exited from the camp of the Super Eagles before Nigeria’s game against Equatorial Guinea due to injury.
Umar featured last night for his club, Real Sociedad, a few days after he was ruled out of the AFCON. Peseiro revealed the player wanted to stay but was asked to return to his club.
Jose Peseiro during a post-match interview said; “I am confused as well, our team doctor said he would be out for 15 days. We held a meeting with him, and it was the last day to replace a player.”
“His club said he had to return to recover because he might need surgery.”
Nigeria takes on host Ivory Coast today at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium as the Super Eagles plan to redeem themselves after a disappointing draw against Equatorial Guinea.
