Cameroon Football president, Samuel Eto’o has released a statement after the indomitable Lions fell to a 2-0 defeat to the Super Eagles of Nigeria on Saturday.
Nigeria striker Ademola Lookman, last night, fired a brace for the Super Eagles to eliminate Cameroon 2-0 and set up an Africa Cup of Nations quarterfinal clash against Angola on Friday.
The Indomitable Lions struggle to pick up four points in their Group C matches, picking a draw against Guinea and losing to Senegal before beating Gambia to book a round 16 spot.
Samuel Eto’o reacting to the defeat said “We have made our way in this AFCON. There are only people of bad faith who only see darkness everywhere.
Our young players are playing in their first African Cup of Nations with a few others who have been to the AFCON several times. I don’t get into personal or tribal hatred.
Coach Rigobert Song did his job as a local coach less costly to the Cameroonian taxpayer. Thanks Coach!
The players discovered a lot of things in this competition. This will serve as a lesson to them in the future. I am president of Fecafoot and I take responsibility for what happened.
“We must look to the future with confidence. Young Wooh Christopher scored a goal which sent us to the second round.
He’s not a former Leo. Those who have not been called up must understand that all countries retrain their national teams to finally continue winning future trophies.
“Rigobert Song is Cameroonian, he discovers talented young players and trains them. In my opinion as the president of Fecafoot, he remains the coach of the Cameroon national team.
Even if it is Jesus Christ who one day becomes the coach of the Cameroon national team, people will still ask for his departure.
Defeat is a shared responsibility” He said
