Head Coach of South Africa National Team Hugo Broos has revealed that Nigeria will face a different Bafana Bafana when both sides clash tonight.
Nigeria and South Africa go head-to-head on Wednesday (7 February) at Stade Bouaké in Bouaké, Ivory Coast.
This will be the fourth encounter between Nigeria and South Africa at the CAF Africa Cup of Nations, with the Super Eagles winning the previous three by an aggregate score of 8-1.
This is Nigeria’s record-equaling 16th semifinal appearance in their 20th AFCON tournament.
Only seven-time champion Egypt has played as many semifinals although the Pharaohs have played in 26 tournaments.
Hugo Broos insists he feels no pressure and believes his side will play their best against the Super Eagles of Nigeria
“We know and understand who we are up against [on Wednesday]. We know this team and that their players play all over Europe. We also know that last time in an Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) what the result was, but this time it’s different. It’s different players, a different team, and a different AFCON. Anything is possible.”
Wednesday’s game against the Bafana Bafana is a repeat of the semifinal in 2000 when Nigeria won 2-0 in Lagos.
