Team Nigeria won 16 Medals on Monday from three different sports with wrestling giving Nigeria nine Gold Medals to overtake Algeria and South Africa on the Medal table.
Nigeria started the day with three gold medals from Edidiong Joseph Umofia in men’s Weightlifting 67kg.
This was followed by two bronze medals in the Chess event as Peace Samson won a bronze in Women’s Rapid Blitz followed by another Bronze with her teammate in Double Mixed team Blitz.
In Wrestling, Team Nigeria won three silver and a bronze.
Simeon Enozunimi won Silver in Men’s Freestyle 57kg, Izolo Stephen Simon won Silver in Men’s Freestyle 65kg,
Mutuwa Aston Adeyemi-Amin won Silver in Men’s Freestyle 125kg and
-Onovwiomogbohwo Harrison won Bronze in Men’s Freestyle 86kg.
Nigeria Wrap up their event on Monday with a Six Gold medal in Wrestling as Rafiatu Lawal and Adijat Olarinoye both won three Gold each in the Women’s 61kg and 59kg.
Nigeria now has 41 medals in total, 16 Gold, 10 Silver, and 15 bronze as occupies the second position behind Egypt who are already looking like champions of the African Games
