Nigeria and Kenya Dominate day three of the Athletics events winning four Gold each.
Kenya started the day winning the women’s 20km race work before Moraa Mary added another Gold by winning the Women’s 400m.
Kenya’s other two Gold were won by Chepkoech Beatrice in the 3000m Steeplechase setting a Games record and Cheminingwa Aron winning the men’s 800m final while his fellow compatriots Ngeno Alex Clinches Silver
Ojezie Chidi Anthony started the Gold medal rush for team Nigeria in Athletics winning the Men’s 400m final before Tobi Amusan increased the tally by winning the Women’s 100m Hurdles.
Nigeria’s other two medals came from relay as Israel Sunday Okon, Ekanem Consider Emmanuel, Akintola Alaba and Itsekiri Usheoritse beat the host and title holders Ghana after crossing the finishing line in a time of 38.41s ahead of Ghana (38.43s) and Liberia (38.73s).
In the women’s relay, the quartet of Moforehan Abinusawa, Eyakpobeyan Justina Tiana, Olajide Olayinka and Tobi Amusan clocked 43.06s to finish first ahead of Liberia (44.02s) and Ghana (44.21s).
Kenya has moved up to 11 on the medal table table while Nigeria maintained its second position in with competition from South Africa and Algeria.
