The Athletic Integrity Unit Has suspended Spanish Athlete Mohammed Katir for breaching the Anti-doping rule.
The Spanish athletics star Mohamed Katir (25) is not allowed to run in competitions for the next two years as a result of a breach of anti-doping rules.
That has been decided by the Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU), they wrote in a statement on Friday.
The reason is that on three occasions he has breached the reporting obligation in connection with doping tests. The three breaches date from February, April, and October 2023. NRK has also covered the case.
The suspension applies from 7 February 2024, AIU states. The statement states that Katir has accepted the punishment imposed on him, and thus this summer’s Olympics in Paris will go ahead without the Spaniard.
Last year, Katir took the silver behind Jakob Ingebrigtsen of Norway in the 5000 meters in the WC. Katir gets to keep that medal, while all his results after 10 October 2023 will be deleted.
In July last year, Katir broke Jakob Ingebrigtsen’s European record in the 5000 mmeters The Spaniard then lowered the record time to 12:45.01.
