FC Barcelona has withdrawn Dani Alves’ status as a legend of the club after the Brazilian was sentenced to prison. The club was waiting for the final hearing from the court and now has made the decision.
The Brazilian footballer was sentenced to four and a half years in prison for sexually assaulting a woman in a Barcelona nightclub in 2022. The top court in Spain’s Catalonia region also ordered Alves to pay $163,000 to the victim.
Dani Alves arrived at FC Barcelona in 2008 winning titles and having memorable moments galore at the club.
Alves was on the appearance list for foreign players to wear the Barcelona jersey in competitive games, with only Leo Messi (778) ahead of him.
