The Confederation of African Football, CAF might cancel the Confederation Cup to give way for the new African Football League.
This was revealed during the press conference in Abidjan on Friday ahead of the kick-off of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations.
“We may have to cancel the CAF Confederations Cup to have competitions that can generate better income for African clubs,” said
CAF president Motsepe.
The CAF Confederation Cup, known as the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation Cup for sponsorship purposes, is an annual association football club competition established in 2004 from a merger of the CAF Cup and the African Cup Winners’ Cup and organized by CAF.
The CAF Confederation Cup is an Inter-Club competition for clubs that failed to win their championships but finished in the top two or top four of their leagues.
