Equatorial Guinea has suspended their team captain Emilio Nsue and midfielder Ivan Salvador for “several episodes of serious indiscipline”.
Nsue, 34, won the Golden Boot as top goalscorer at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) earlier this year with five goals in four appearances for Equatorial Guinea.
The Equatorial National FA released a statement on Tuesday that Nsue had been suspended for “serious indiscipline” and would remain unavailable for international duty until “further evidence” became available.
Equatorial Guinea also confirmed that Nsue’s teammate Salvador, 28, would also be suspended after an “unsavory” incident in the city of Abidjan on January 29, which required the intervention of the local police.
