Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has revealed that FIFA wants to establish football academies in some African countries
The FIFA’s Chief of Global Football Development has suggested that some African countries will benefit from a standard football academy built by FIFA.
Wenger revealed this after he attended the AFCON final match between host Ivory Coast and Nigeria on Sunday, February 11th in Abidjan.
“We are nearing the opening of new academies in Cameroon Ivory Coast Liberia Ghana and Zambia within the next six months to a year. By 2026, we expect to have 75 academies worldwide.
“Our objective is to raise the standard and competitiveness of the game, which can only be achieved through improved football education and higher-quality competitions,” he said
