Black Stars continued their winless run in 2024 after being held to a 2-2 draw by Uganda in an international friendly held on Tuesday in Marrakech.
Having lost to rivals Nigeria last Friday, Ghana came into the game against the Cranes desperate to return to winning ways.
The Black Stars got off to a promising start as defender Jerome Opoku scored his debut goal for Ghana by heading home from a pinpoint cross delivered by Jordan Ayew early in the game. However, Asante Kotoko striker Steven Mukwala leveled the score for Uganda, canceling out Opoku’s opener.
Jordan Ayew, continuing his impressive form, restored Ghana’s lead with a well-taken penalty, marking his fourth goal in three consecutive national team appearances.
Just like in the first half, though, Uganda once again snatched a late equalizer after Ghana’s defenders failed to clear their lines following Wollacott’s diving save, allowing Shaban to tap the ball home from a goal-mouth scramble to make it 2-2.
The result leaves the Black Stars with no wins in the March international break, with games against Mali and the Central African Republic to come in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers in June
