Champions Ivory Coast have moved into the top 40 in the World and top five in Africa after beating Nigeria 2-1 to clinch their African title on Sunday.
The Elephants were ranked 49th in the world and eighth in Africa before the start of the 2023 AFCON, But the Elephants are now 39th in the World and Fifth in Africa.
The Nigeria Super Eagles also moved up on the ladder of the FIFA ranking to third in Africa and 28 in the World despite losing the 2023 AFCON to host Ivory Coast.
Nigeria was in position 42th and 6th in Africa before the tournament but the Eagles have moved 14th places in the world rankings.
The highest mover so far is Angola who gained 72 points to move 20 places up in the FIFA ranking followed by Nigeria.
Others who move up after gaining more points are Equatorial Guinea, South Africa, Guinea, Senegal, Mali, and Cape Verde,
The First FIFA ranking of the year will be released tomorrow February 15.
