Wydad and Al Ahly are among the 20 teams that have qualified for the 32-team tournament, scheduled to take place in several US cities between 15 June and 13 July 2025, when sides from each of FIFA’s six confederations will compete for the title of world champions.
Twenty teams have qualified after Dortmund’s place was confirmed following RB Leipzig’s defeat to Real Madrid in the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League round of 16 on 6 March 2024. Leipzig was the only other Bundesliga outfit in the running to feature but needed to reach at least the Champions League semi-finals to have a chance of overtaking Dortmund in the UEFA four-year rankings.
The tournament is a new 32-team format and will take place every four years, with the USA as the first host country.
