Nigerian music star Yemi Alade is set to perform at the opening ceremony of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations tomorrow.
This news comes a month after the official AFCON 2023 theme song ‘Akwaaba’ was released. The song features Ivory Coast’s band Magic System, Yemi Alade and Mohamed Ramadan.
The Nigerian singer, Yemi Alade has said it is a ‘dream come true’ as she announces that she will be performing at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
In a tweet on her X account, the singer revealed that she had been desiring to perform at football ceremonies since 2016.
Known for her versatility, Alade performs her songs in French, Yoruba, and English. Her achievements include winning the MTV Africa Music Awards (MAMAs) for Best Female in both 2015 and 2016.
The opening ceremony of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, AFCON will commence at 6 pm WAT before Côte d’Ivoire takes on Guinea-Bissau in the opening match two hours later.
