Nigeria Hurdler, Tobi Amusan commenced her 2024 season with a crisp win at the World Indoor Tour in Astana, Kazakhstan.
The Nigerian breezed to an easy win, clocking 7.91s to qualify for the final by 1.51 pm.
Amusan also broke the African Record with 7.77 seconds in 60. The previous record of 7.82 seconds was set in 1999 by Glory Alozie.
In July 2022, Nigerians woke up to the ground-breaking news of Tobi Amusan becoming Nigeria’s first World Record (WR) holder and outdoor champion in athletics history.
She became the first Nigerian world champion after she clocked a wind-aided 12.06 seconds — ineligible as a world record because of +2.5 meters per second strong wind.
The sprinter consolidated her feat with a gold medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games before retaining her Diamond League title to put a brilliant wrap on her season.
