The Cameroon FA president, Samuel Eto’o had officially announced the departure of Rigobert Song as the head coach of the Indomitable Lions of Cameroon.
Rigobert Song was appointed in March 2022 as Cameroon coach on orders of the nation’s president.
Song took Cameroon to the 2022 World Cup and 2023 AFCON but crashed out in the group stage of the World Cup and round of 16 of the 2023 AFCON.
“He has brought a lot to this team but the laws of football being what they are…” We have not achieved our objectives, and our executive board and I do not see ourselves renewing the contract.
“I had an opportunity to talk with him about it. I have given our positions and now it’s time to think ahead while wishing him every success in his future career. Allow me to pay a vibrant tribute to Rigobert Song who was my captain in the national team” Said Samuel Eto’o
