The Cameroon Football Federation has responded to Samuel Eto’o’s offer to resign as the body’s president following the Indomitable Lions’ underwhelming 2023 Africa Cup of Nations performances.
Eto’o presented his resignation letter to the Cameroon FA Executive on Monday and asked them to do the same. They dismissed his request and said to him, they still believed in him so he should continue as their president.
“FECAFOOT announces that at the beginning of the Executive Committee session held yesterday at the Yaounde Hilton Hotel to evaluate the performance of the Indomitable Lions in AFCON 2023, FECAFOOT PRESIDENT SAMUEL ETO’O tendered in his resignation to the members of the federal executive organization, inviting them to do likewise in good faith”.
“However, at the end of discussions and deliberations, the members of the Executive Committee decided to maintain their current mandates and unanimously rejected the President’s resignation, thereby renewing their confidence in him to continue reconstructing and developing Cameroon football” the press release from the federation explains.
