There was drama yesterday at the Moshood National Stadium in Abuja during the CAF Olympics Qualifier Match between Cameroon and Nigeria players over the claim of ‘Juju’.
The first claim of ‘Juju’ happened in the 52nd minute when Lamine Mana went to the Cameroon team bench and ran towards the Nigerian goalkeeper’s post to touch the net but was stopped by Chiamaka Nnadozie before the intervention of the referee and other players.
After play went on for close to 40 minutes, The Cameroon players still believed Nigeria put ‘Juju’ in their goalpost reason of their inability to put the ball in the back of the net.
This time it was toward the end of the game as Meffometou went to the Nigerian goalkeeper’s post as she insisted on checking inside the net to remove the acclaimed ‘Juju’ but was stopped by Chiamaka Nnadozie before Asisat Oshoala came to push Meffometou away from the Nigerian goal line area.
In the process of trying to calm the situation Cameroon player, Ndzana brought down Chiamaka Nnadoziea and ran inside the Nigerian Goalpost and was later sent off by the Center referee.
Despite the ‘Juju’ claim by Cameroon, The Nigeria Falcons defeated the Indomitable Lionesses of Cameroon 1-0 at the MKO Abiola Stadium Abuja on Monday evening to go through on 1-0 aggregate after a 0-0 draw in Cameroon last week.
Esther Okoronkwo scored the only goal of the match in the 14th minute.
